GIVING BACK

Sometimes it takes a life-changing moment to truly remind us what matters most. For me, that moment came in 2009 when my 5-year-old son, Ryder Evans-Brockett, passed away after battling brain cancer.

Watching Ryder fight for his life with incredible courage, positivity, and strength forever changed the way I view life. His spirit taught me the importance of attitude, resilience, and giving back to others in a meaningful way. Since then, I’ve made it my mission to honour his legacy by helping make a difference wherever I can not only in his memory, but because it’s become a core part of who I am.

Over the past 16 years, one of the biggest ways I’ve been able to give back has been through participating in The Ride to Conquer Cancer and Tour de Cure in support of the BC Cancer Foundation. These events help raise critical funds for cancer research, treatment, and patient care.

What started in 2009 with a team of just 13 riders raising over $60,000 has since grown into something far beyond what I ever imagined. Riders for Ryders has become one of the largest and most recognized teams participating in these events each year.

Together, Riders for Ryders has now raised over $4 million for cancer research and has proudly participated in all four rides across Canada. With growing teams in both British Columbia and Ontario, we continue to expand our efforts each year with one shared goal helping fund life-saving cancer research and supporting families facing unimaginable battles.

This journey has reminded me that no matter how difficult life can be, we all have the ability to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
